Quarterly Report - July 2010

Dear Supporters and Friends,
Happy Independence Day!
Down here in Vietnam Deborah and I always thank God for your faithfulness in supporting the ministry and our family by prayer and financial contribution which show your love, fellowship, compassion, and encouragement from the union with Christ. May God maintain your good work and sustain your country in every circumstance to His glory!
We are doing well in general. Hard life for decades from poor conditions has brought several health issues to us both but God’s grace through you is greater than them so we can get treatment adequately and on time. My heart problem (the PVCs) is now at a level where I can work with full energy, and the heart-burn that I had to experience (painfully) is now almost ceased. I’m not taking those for granted but so grateful to the Lord for that.
The recruitment process for the next round of training is accomplished successfully. We ended the lists of students for the two classes to come at the volume of 23 students each (We intentionally stopped there at the 23rd student in the knowledge that there will always be other candidates continue to come to get enrollment). All these students were interviewed and meet our criteria, and I feel quite confident about them. The structure of each class is well organized to have a relative balance of genre, age, education, doctrinal background, and ministry experience.
Those two classes of Pastors and Church Leaders will receive the first training on 02Aug’10 (02-06Aug’10 for the first class and 09-13Aug’10 for the second one). The topic for them will be on Bible Study, “The Basics of Bible Study”, a course on principles and methods of Bible study that I developed four years ago. I’ve been editing its manual for more intelligible and I feel satisfactory with its final state where our students will be focusing on the core knowledge and skills with appropriate time for discussion to help the students grasp thoroughly what they learn.
Although the first training will be started on the date mentioned but this will not be perceived as an official opening of the training round. The official opening will be held on Oct’10 when Russ & Joel (one of the members of our Board of Directors) come to minister them with the second topic of the curriculum, “Bibliology”, a course on doctrine of the Bible. What I will do in August, in a sub-sense beside the training purpose, means redemption of the time and a further preparation for that significant opportunity.
I also will go to Thailand on 16Jul’10 to receive another intensive course of my MA program at ABTS, "Asia Biblical Theological Seminary", also known as "Asia Baptist Theological Seminary", a seminary from Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, MI. I have a lot of materials to read as the pre-course assignment and the course I’m going to take is “Systematic Theology I”. I will return my country on 26Jul’10, about a week prior to August training event.
As always, I greatly appreciate the good work of you by prayer and financial support for the IBL Ministry in Vietnam. Please pray that our financial needs will soon be met 100% as we all are being like-minded and one spirit, and having the same love and purpose. Other than that, we also have some unspoken prayer requests that your prayer is deeply coveted.
My wife Deborah also gives you her love and greetings.
Blessings!
